Pouch Printing Using Thermal Inkjet Printer

The Technology Business Ltd has delivered a fully automated pouch, bag, leaflet and flat‑sheet printing system designed for modern Industry 4.0 production lines. The solution integrates 1–4 CIJ print heads (with scalable custom configurations) and a high‑stability vacuum conveyor to ensure accurate, consistent print quality across a wide range of materials.

Flexible product feeding and stacking options support diverse manufacturing workflows, while optional flattening rollers maintain perfect print alignment on pouches and other bulky substrates. Additional Industry 4.0‑ready modules — including product counting, vision inspection, and custom automation features— allow the system to be tailored to specific customer requirements

Filling, Capping and Inspection Line

TTB supplied a high‑performance filling and capping line for the Life Science industry, engineered with a durable SS304 stainless‑steel frame, polycarbonate guarding and precision‑machined nylon components. The system is controlled via a Siemens safety PLC, ensuring full compliance with Life Science safety and validation standards.

A fully integrated vision inspection system verifies correct cap application by monitoring cap position, number of turns and applied torque from the capping assembly. Products that pass inspection move to a wraparound labelling station, where a Cognex vision camera confirms accurate label placement before release to downstream processes.

This automated solution improves quality control, reduces manual handling and supports Industry 4.0‑ready traceability across critical Life Science packaging operations.

Fibre Laser Marking of Vinyl Flooring

Filling, Pre-capping, Torque Tightening, Check and Labelling

This machine automatically feeds, fills, caps, and labels bottles with quality checks for the torque applied to the caps, the presence of a cap, and the quality of the printed label. It also includes functionality for a quality check procedure for the filling volume to be carried out during automatic operation.

S-Conveyor CIJ Box Printing, Inspection and Rejection System

CO2 Laser Marking for Shrink Film

TTB engineered a custom CO₂ laser marking enclosure built around the Videojet Gemini 30W IP54 SHC100c straight laser, providing a safe, fully integrated marking solution for industrial production lines. The laser is housed in a light‑tight, safety‑interlocked enclosure featuring a single access door secured with a dual‑channel fork safety switch to meet stringent machine‑safety requirements.

The laser is mounted on an adjustable bracket, offering approximately 16 mm horizontal and 30 mm vertical positioning to ensure precise alignment during operation. The system includes a dedicated entry port for customer‑supplied extraction hardware, supporting clean and compliant laser marking.

Safety outputs from the dual‑door switch (2× NC contacts) are delivered via a 5‑metre ferrule‑terminated cable for straightforward integration with existing control systems. The enclosure frame is constructed from anodised aluminium and polycarbonate, with final design adjustments made to suit the customer’s machine layout and application needs.

CO2 Laser Marking on a rotary labelling machine

The system is based around one of Videojet’s CO2 Gemini straight shooting lasers.

The Laser will be enclosed in a light-tight assembly, utilising a combination of Krones and TTB’s guarding. The up/down door assembly interlock of the Krones’ safety circuit will ensure that the system is disabled when the safety circuit is broken.

The new marking laser assembly will be fixed to the existing framework. There will be the option for adjustment of the laser position, based on a mechanism provided by Videojet.

The new system will have a suitable entry port on the machine, with the extraction hardware provided by the customer.

Fibre Laser for High value PCBs

The customer required a laser system capable of marking products. The maximum marking area is 125X125mm, with a bed size of 150X150mm. The system needed to be capable of loading multiple parts (on a jig of the customer’s making) into the machine.

Pharmaceutical Label Application System With Reject

The requirement of the system is to inspect the printed label prior to application onto the product via a vision system. The system will print the labels using a TT or DT printer which will be mounted in line with the label applicator, the camera system will be mounted past the printer and inspect the required customer data using a combination of different tools. Any labels that fail inspection will still be applied to the product, but will be discarded further down the conveyor.

Side printing, Inspection and rejection system

The customer required a system that could print fine details on to their Pharma product boxes. The system would then inspect the quality of the label, and a rejection system would safely reject the boxes if the inspection failed. The initial concept was designed using Ansys Spaceclaim and the actual product is shown below.

Three Head CIJ Print System

Working with Videojet Technologies, TTB developed a system to sit over the customer’s production line. The CIJ printers mark kegs on to top dome and adjacent sides. The data is extracted from the producer’s SCADA system, processed and sent to each of the printers. A vision system checks the printed data and if any test fails, the system identifies the issue to the operator. The system is based on a Siemens PLC platform and the plant was adapted to integrate the new functionality.

Roll Bundling Machine

One of our roll bundler machines. Servo control in the X, Y and Z axis position the vacuum heads. The rolls come straight from the cutter and roll down a table where they are aligned ready for picking. The tube quantities are picked, dependent on the layer configuration and which layer is being formed. Two off-load bays allow the operator to access a completed stack, whilst the machine builds the next stack. Full mechanical and electrical safety interlocking ensures the operator is never exposed to danger.

Automotive Traceability System

The final phase of our automotive traceability system. Tracking injection moulded parts from beginning to coating, cutting, welding, testing and through to release to the production line. All data is stored on a dual redundant Mitsubishi PLC system, with our stations tracking process at every point of production. Our system is integrated into each machine and all components are connected via cclink. All the data is stored to an SQL database that ultimately provides traceability against the VIN of each vehicle.

Press Inverter Retrofit

One of our customers had a major inverter failure and needed to get back into production ASAP. The team swung into action and we had a new 250kW drive identified and ordered. Four hours later the team had the inverter on site and the old 200kW drive removed. They made short work of the new installation and the drive ready for commissioning.

Cast Cylinder Head Inspection Station

One of our many bespoke designs for our customers. The assembly had to be completely accessible to the operator for inspection and manipulation. This meant we had to implement a low force mechanism to protect the operator whilst still achieving the desired functionality.

New Control Panel & Safety System for Rubbermill

New control panel leaving the factory. 138kW Siemens inverter with safe stop built in. Siemens S7-1200 safety PLC to integrate into the various field safety devices. The application is for a Rubber Mill, so safety is critical, and functionality must be simple and effective.

Roll Bundler Table and Strapper

A custom Roll Bundler machine, designed to take a wide variety of tube sizes and lengths. Layers can be selected and the tubes can then be sent to an off-the-shelf strapping machine. The machine is designed to be wheeled in/out of the production line, a guide trough on the floor ensures that the in-feed conveyor matches up with the customer's machine. The machine is a 3 axis system, allowing the X-Y position of the pick-up point on the bed and the Z axis picks up and drops off the tubes into the exit push lane. The X/Y/Z layers are set via a recipe on the HMI. Once a bundle is complete, the Exit pusher then indexes the bundle into the strapper, with the position and quantity of straps being set on the HMI.
